Better

Thanks for the encouragement (Heather and Martha, it is so great to hear from you!). The headache has faded (thank you God) and although he fought it to start, Roman is still napping. When he first went down Trey had his quiet time and I took advantage of it to scrapbook. I rarely do it during the day, but it was a good break for me. I scrapbooked a picture I took in March specifically for the purpose of journaling what is now on this page -- the journaling says this:

“Are they both yours?”
“Do they have the same father?”
“Are they brothers?”
“Does the mailman have blonde hair?”
And the most popular:

“WHERE DID HE GET THE BLONDE HAIR?”
These are questions I get all the time. Almost everyone I know has asked, as well as countless total strangers. One even asked Trey if Roman was really his brother! I have gotten one form or another of these questions at least once a week since Roman was born.
It gets old.
Oh, and the answer is YES! - they are both ours!

Groan

Ugh. I've had this headache for 23 hours now. It had me up during the night even, and I usually sleep through everything. The boys are grumpy. Roman has been throwing fits about everything. (I'm sure part of that is just being two.)

I'm trying to get my day back on track by taking a few minutes to vent (to you!) while I sip my coffee. Roman has been temporarily confined to his room for screaming at me and Trey is amusing himself downstairs. Thank you God for a moment of peace. Please give us contentment and happiness today. Help me to enjoy the precious parts of being home with them today, rather than being frustrated at the hard parts. And please God, take this headache away. Amen.

Frog Jump Festival

Saturday we went to a local town's Frog Jump Festival. It was SO much fun. The kids got to pick a frog to race. Each race area was set up with a small circle painted inside a larger circle. The frogs started out in the smaller circle and had to get outside the larger circle. The kids weren't supposed to touch the frogs once they were racing, but they could hit the ground near them, talk to them, or blow on them as you can see Roman doing. We let our kids each race three times with different frogs for each race. Our friends were there too, that's Trey's buddy Davis blowing on the frogs with Roman.

We will definitely do this again next year!

Roman

Roman speaks and communicates really well for his age (at least we think so), but he still has some adorable versions of words that crack us up. We made a little video of some of them so that we would be able to remember after he grows out of them. I hope it makes you laugh the way it makes us laugh! :)

101 Posts!

That last post was my 100th post on this blog! :)

Roman has cracked us up a few times lately. Last night as I was tucking him in bed I said our ritual "Night night, sleep tight, don't let the..." and he was supposed to finish it with "bedbugs bite", but instead he laughed and said "Mommy, there no bedbugs!". So I told him that I'm a bedbug and started nibbling on his neck, which always makes him laugh. He laughed, but then told me "Mommy, you not a bedbug, you a nice person". It was adorable!

Better Late Than Never

I love to plant and care for my garden each year, but this year has been complicated. First we were delayed because of the move. Then Jeff was going to dig it up for me and realized the ground was just too hard, so we borrowed not one, but two different tillers, and neither was strong enough to break our clay ground. Finally we were given the great idea to build a raised garden and we got that done yesterday. I went for topsoil at Walmart's garden center where they have a great deal on it, but the person I talked to grossly underestimated how much I would need and I only brought home enough to do half the garden. So, we did that much (the garden is framed in two rectangles anyway) and we'll get the rest done asap. It's way to late for peas, but hopefully we'll still get some good tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, zucchini and maybe even corn! Pictures will be up when I have plants!

Life

Life seems to be moving faster than I can keep up! I got to spending quite a bit of time catching up with a girlfriend tonight and we laughed about watching each others' blogs and how neither of us have posted anything new lately. Of course, she has the handy excuse of no internet access while they're in the process of moving... I do not have that handy excuse, but I can say that life has kept us spinning lately. Last week we had a wedding and two funerals, and no, that's not the name of a movie. Two of Jeff's family members passed away and in between the funerals Jeff was a groomsman in another wedding. It was quite an emotional roller coaster.

Now that we're home from all that and hopefully things are a little calmer I'm trying to catch up on other fun things - you know, laundry, cleaning the bathrooms, etc., etc. People keep asking if I'm done unpacking. I don't think it's ever taken me more than a month to unpack before... but I also never moved with two little ones before. :) Most of the house is unpacked, although the office is still a dumping ground. Once the final boxes are gone I'll tackle my projects list - things like organizing the closets more the way I want them, refinishing the dining room table, teaching my kids Latin... (just kidding on that last one).

Toward the end of our conversation tonight my girlfriend and I were talking about books we've read lately. Neither of us have a ton of reading time with little ones running around, but we both try to squeeze some in. I haven't read an actual book since before the moving process started, but I think she inspired me to go start one tonight, so here I go!
