So Excited!

Tomorrow is holding most of my attention right now - I'm leaving for a girls' weekend. Not just A girls' weekend, but my first girls' weekend in 4 1/2 years! (I've been pretty excited about it, I probably already told most of you!) Let me tell you, that is way too long! Three girlfriends and I rented a cabin this weekend down in Hocking Hills. We are ready to go with lots of food, girly movies and wine - and of course swim suits for the hot tub!

I'll tell you all about it in a few days when I'm back, and I'm sure I'll have pictures! :)

4 against 1

Ah, finally, temperatures above freezing! We had quite the cold spell these last couple of weeks and the boys and I have had a major case of cabin fever. Thankfully today is better (40-ish) and we hit the park. The dogs have had cabin fever too, so I took them with us. Considering I was out-numbered 4-to-1 I would say it was a very successful trip. Only a few other people were out, so I let the dogs off-leash to play fetch and was pretty impressed, they stayed close and so did the kids!

It's going to get pretty cold again in a couple of days, but I'm praying for spring!

Bowling

A new first for both our boys - we took them bowling tonight! We went with another (kid-less) couple who are amused by the boys. It was a riot. I don't know what their scores ended up being, but the boys had a blast. Trey started out granny-bowling but then started copying us - sort of. :) He did well though, and loved seeing his pins fall down. Roman would put the ball down and just give it a little push. Jeff would try to sneak in a quick push to help it, but sometimes he didn't get the chance and we would wait while the ball slowly, slowly made it's way down the lane. The wait was amusing too though because Roman would be right there at the edge of the lane, crouched down watching the ball gradually getting closer to the pins. Then he would run back for high fives from everyone, regardless of how many pins did or didn't fall down. After the high fives he would return to his between-turns activity; flirting with the group of eight 10-year-old girls in the lane next to us!

New Page

Scrapbooking goes in spurts for me. I've loved it for about eight years now, but sometimes I don't get much done, while other times I'm doing page after page. Lately I've been busy with it. I really want to try to stay pretty current on this year as well as get some older stuff done.

Here's one I did today of me and Roman just last week:

And one I did of Roman at eleven months:

Big Day!

Send your birthday wishes and happy thoughts to my wonderful husband, he is 30 years old today! I love you Jeff, and I'm so glad to be sharing this day with you. :)

Do you hear it?

It's the Hallelujah Chorus!

We have tried several times to switch Roman to the bottom bunk and it was NOT working. He would get up over and over and over then cry and get up again! He would beg to sleep in the "big boy bed", but didn't seem to have the self control to actually do it. So we would put him back in the crib (to cries of "no cib Mommy/Daddy, no cib!") and try again a couple of weeks later. Right after Thanksgiving we tried and got the same results. Knowing we had a lot of traveling coming up we decided to stop trying and face it again after the holidays. So tonight was it, and it worked! He didn't get up once, and when we checked him he was sound asleep - as adorable as ever! Apparently he just needed a little more time.

Florida and Wedding (brace yourself, this is a LONG blog!)

We had the BEST trip going to Florida last week for a mini-vacation and John & Cyndy's wedding.

We left Ohio on Friday (the 28th) with the in
tention of staying the night in NC at Jeff's dad's house. Unfortunately, due to his dad's delayed flight - he was coming home from his trip to NY - our overnight turned into a two-hour nap. We got to bed at 2:30 AM and the alarm went off at 4:15, since we were needed in FL at a certain time. We hit the snooze until about 4:35 then got up and got on the road. Jeff drove while I got another nap, then we switched and made it to John & Cyndy's house around 1:30.

Jeff and John have been friends since they were kids, and although they've only seen each other a handful of times in the past 15 years, they've stayed close. He's a great guy, so we assumed we would love his bride, although we hadn't met her.

We were right. Cyndy is darling, and their friends are fantastic too. I hung out with Cyndy and her friend Liz while Jeff and John went to get Jeff's tux. After they got back Jeff and I went to check in to our hotel, then headed back to John & Cyndy's for a barbecue, where we met most of the wedding party.

Sunday morning Jeff and I slept in a little, then got up and headed out to Cocoa Beach. We loved seeing the "Welcome to Cocoa Beach" sign, complete with a Tiki head, palm trees... and Christmas trees!

We really enjoyed walking up and down the beach in different areas, collecting shells, wading in the water and seeing the pier. The weather was perfect and we just enjoyed being there together.

After the beach we headed back to our hotel to get dressed and go to the rehearsal, which went really well - even with me standing in for a missing bridesmaid (who made it by the next day). Cyndy's family is Portuguese and her mom and aunts had been cooking all day to host the rehearsal dinner. They are such a sweet family and the food was INCREDIBLE! I ate until I was stuffed, as did everyone else, and there were even leftovers! We stayed for a long time, hanging out, getting to know people, and playing silly games.

Me & Jeff, Liz & Cyndy, John & Jeff, a bunch of the guys:

And, finally, the wedding day arrived. It was so perfect. John & Cyndy looked fantastic, as did Jeff! The wedding went smoothly, despite a little entertainment from an energetic flower girl.

We then went on to the reception, which was a huge New Years party. It was a BLAST! We partied at the reception (including a great "best man" toast by Jeff!) until a little after midnight, then the reception broke up and the wedding party moved on to an impromptu after-party out at the hot tub. Even John & Cyndy joined us. It was a great way to bring in the new year! Congratulations John & Cyndy and thanks for including us in your weekend!
